Their placid disposition when regularly handled, beautiful colour and low maintenance are making Persian sheep increasingly popular in Australia.  For the small property holder looking for an attractive low maintenance sheep that does not require shearing either as a pet or ‘lawn mower’ they are ideal.

Rams are usually available for purchase.  Prices range from $300-$1000 depending on pattern and general quality. When crossed with other breeds the resultant lambs are attractively patterned. Lambing gives lots of pleasant surprises. When crossed with woolly breed s the lambs as well as being patterned have shorter coats and the majority are fully shedding.
